01

Agriculture and agribusiness

GEEL works on agricultural productivity, enterprise development, market access and value-chain investment. The focus includes opportunities to connect producers and agri-enterprises with information, services, finance and reliable buyers.

More competitive agricultural systems contribute to food security, jobs and resilient local economies.

02

Livestock and pastoral economies

Livestock is central to livelihoods and regional trade across much of the Horn of Africa. GEEL's value-chain approach considers productive services, market information, animal-related enterprises and the resilience of pastoral communities.

03

Fisheries and the blue economy

GEEL supports opportunities across fish production, handling, cold storage, processing, food safety and routes to market. Stronger enterprises and post-harvest systems can increase value addition while supporting livelihoods in coastal communities.

04

Health systems and services

Our health sector priorities include institutional capacity, digital healthcare information systems, sustainable health financing, workforce development, quality of services and evidence for decision making.

GEEL's health systems work is designed to support stronger institutions and service delivery with partners; it should not be confused with a claim that GEEL directly operates clinical facilities.

05

Cross-cutting capabilities

Climate resilience, inclusion, digital transformation, institutional strengthening and access to finance are integrated across these sectors. Our programmes respond to country priorities and the realities of each market and community.
