01

Expanding access to economic opportunity

GEEL places people at the centre of enterprise and economic development. Its inclusion, employment and livelihoods work connects market opportunities with relevant skills, enterprise participation and community needs.

Our approach considers both the demand for skills and services and the barriers that prevent people from participating in the economy.

02

Skills, work readiness and employment

We support practical, market-relevant learning, connections to employers and approaches that help workers and entrepreneurs respond to changes in local economies. Skills development is strongest when linked to realistic opportunities in sectors and value chains.

03

Women and youth in enterprise

GEEL promotes the participation of women and young people in entrepreneurship, enterprise growth and livelihood activities. Partnerships with market actors and local institutions can improve access to knowledge, networks, services and finance.

04

Livelihoods and community resilience

In communities affected by economic or environmental pressures, livelihoods programmes must be sensitive to local circumstances. We support approaches that build productive capacity, diversify opportunity and strengthen social inclusion.

05

Our priority areas

  • Employment pathways, apprenticeships and work readiness.
  • Women's economic empowerment and women-led enterprises.
  • Youth entrepreneurship and enterprise skills.
  • Displacement-sensitive and locally grounded livelihoods.
  • Community participation, accountability and inclusive programme design.
